The Rainier Council of Square and Folk Dance Federation of Washington encourages cooperation and coordination among the square and round dance clubs in Pierce County and Federal Way in King County. Each club has two delegates to the council. The council hosts some all-club dances, coordinates some promotional activities (e.g., Puyallup Fair demonstrations and booth, parade float, council website), gives recognition awards to deserving individuals, and represents the clubs of Rainier Council in meetings of the state federation. Council meetings are at the Parkland-Spanaway Library at 7:30 pm on the third Monday (Sept. - June), but in months with holiday conflicts the meetings are on the second Monday. Visitors are welcome.

The Rainier Council encourages its delegate members and officers to caravan with them to dances hosted by the clubs in the council.  It's a great way to get to know the different clubs and their members, and it supports those clubs.  The Council Caravan schedule for the remainder of the 2009-2010 year is --

• Friday, Saturday- June 18-19 State Festival in Ellensburg, WA

PLEASE: encourage your own club members to attend the Council Caravans to help support the other clubs.

At the September 2009 council meeting, several awards were presented. Kathy and Frank Chase presented Carol Thompson with the Kenn Trimble award. Tom Tomlinson presented the President's Award to Kevin Kallansruud and Lynn Mosman. The Past President Award was presented to Tom Tomlinson.
