Round Dancing Introduction

Round dancing can be described as choreographed ballroom dancing for couples who progress around the floor dancing to prompts by a cuer. It looks similar to sequence dancing, except that the cuer calls out the individual dance steps. This provides greater variety without dancers needing to memorize the details of each dance. The guys need not be creative choreographers--simply attentive to the cuer.

At the easiest phase (level) only Waltz and Two Step are done, but at the higher phases Foxtrot, Jive, Rumba, Cha Cha, Tango, and other rhythms are added, accompanied by interesting, varied and lively music.

Round dancing is closely associated with square dancing because at many square dances, the hosting club will alternate squares with rounds. However there are some clubs that restrict themselves to round dancing only.
